The Real Thing?

So I remembered yesterday what Sunday’s are for…‘Epic’ rides.

Slack chain - Epic fail?

It was in the true Bike Snob NYC spirit of ‘epic’ too, 41.5 miles; 65 gear inches (42  x 17). This is what happens when you store your ‘geared’ bike in the basement the urge to just get on and ride beats dragging frames and wheels up a flight of stairs round two tight turns.

Combining riding with a christmas shopping is also a great way to beat the urge to sit on the sofa as my destination was the Yorkshire sculpture park which not only has great art but great art/gifts you can buy! I think I could have picked a better (i.e. quieter) route but as I was navigating via google maps on my phone I think I did pretty well. In the interests of full disclosure at this point I have to admit that I walked up the first bit of the road from Batley to Hanging Heaton, but in my defence it is bastard steep!

Easy?
Easy?

I actually saw a fair few cyclists out although a lot of them appeared to be ‘club runs’, but with the weather being dry if a touch cold it was a good day to be out on the bike. The only problem was that due to rain at some point previously there was a lot of ‘road juice’ flying around. Maybe I really should pay more attention to Bike Snob and palp wheelbrows!

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it.
